Osinbajo visits troubled Benue communities, responds to criticisms

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has paid a visit to Internally Displaced Person’s camps in Benue State.

Several Benue communities have been ravaged by attacks from suspected herdsmen in past months.

Many residents have lost their homes as a result, and there had been criticisms directed at the Federal Government for seemingly neglecting the plights of affected residents.

The Vice President used the opportunity to respond to criticisms that he was turning a blind eye to the indiscriminate killing of Christians in the country.

“I am not afraid to take the firm views I have against the killings of Christians or worshippers, be it in the National Security Council or Federal Executive Council, I have affirmed those views. I am not afraid. But this govt is committed to ensuring the security of our people,” he said.

President Buhari said yesterday he has approved the sum of N10billion for the rehabilitation of communities affected by violent attacks in different parts of the country.
