Osinbajo says N-power responsible for reducing unemployment in Nigeria
The vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has declared that the N-power scheme has helped in reducing unemployment in the country.
Speaking at a townhall meeting in Remo within Sagamu area of Ogun state, the Vice president said that the program together with tradermoni and marketmoni which was introduced by the administration of President Buhari has been instrumental in providing employment opportunities for many Nigerians.
The beneficiaries of the scheme receive about N500,000 every year for a period of two years before they weaned off from the program.
Despite his claims, it is uncertain that the scheme has reached millions of people that could create the kind of impact that the VP boasts of.
Although many people have complained in the past that the scheme is only reserved for those who are loyal to the ruling party, Osinbajo has always insisted that the program is for all Nigerians who meet the criteria of selection.
Osinbajo went on to reveal that the scheme will increase the benefit from N500,000 per year to N1million.
