Ondo youths protest over governorship candidacy at INEC office, seek postponement of election
Hundreds of Ondo youths have stormed the INEC office in Akure to protest the commission’s plan to hold the governorship election in the state on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
The protesting youths, who are believed to be PDP supporters, thronged the office of the electoral body in Alagbaka area of Akure on Monday to demand that the commission postpone the election for two weeks.
Their reason, it has been gathered, is that it’ll enable the Appeal Court conclude on the case of the governorship candidacy between Mr. Eyitayo Jegede and Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim.
They are highly in support of Jegede flying the PDP flag for candidacy instead of his factional opposition, Jimoh Ibrahim.
Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko has however flown to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja today, to discuss the crisis over the PDP governorship candidacy in the state.
