Ondo: Police rescues traditional ruler’s wife from kidnappers, kills suspect
Security operatives in Ondo State said they successfully thwarted an attempt to kidnap Mrs. Grace Faduyile, killing a suspected kidnapper in the process.
Mrs. Faduyile, a wife of the traditional ruler of Ikoya in Okitipupa, Oba Gabriel Babatunde Faduyile, was reportedly rescued on Sunday.
The suspect and his gang had initially succeeded in kidnapping their victim but their cover was blown by community members who notified police.
Police sprung into action and gave the suspects a chase, prompting the men to leave their victim behind while running into the bush.
One of the daredevils was reportedly shot dead in the ensuing shootout.
The Ondo State Police Command Spokesman, Femi Joseph, said: “Immediately the command received the information about the monarch’s wife’s abduction, a team of policemen went after the kidnappers in conjunction with the local hunters.”
Mrs. Faduyile was rescued unhurt and reunited with her family.
Efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang are said to be underway.
