OLD SOLDIER: Buhari wears green again, spits threats on Nigeria’s enemies

By Rotimi Akinola
President Muhammadu Buhari deposed a democratically elected government and ruled Nigeria by the barrel of the gun from December 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985.
In those days, donning the green uniform was normal. He was a military dictator.
On May 29, 2015, Buhari became a democratically elected president.

Since then, he hasn’t been seen in a military uniform. In fact, he now calls himself something like a “born again believer in democracy” (whatever that means).

On Wednesday, July 13, 2016, Buhari dusted his military uniform (or did they sow him a new one?) and returned to “the battle field” somewhere in northern Nigeria.

“Today I spent time with troops of HQ 1 Brigade, in Dansadau, Zamfara State, to mark the 2016 Nigerian Army Day,” Buhari said.
“We’re determined more than ever to deal decisively with any threat to the security of Nigeria from any quarters,” he said.
“Any threat” should include murderous herdsmen, terrorist Boko Haram, rampaging Ikorodu attackers, sabotaging Niger Deltan Militants, and so on…we hope.
Welcome back, old soldier.
