Court adjourns trial of Anthony Joshua’s driver again over new evidence
The trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver involved in the crash of a Lexus SUV conveying boxing star Anthony Joshua, has once again been adjourned by a magistrate court in Sagamu.
At Tuesday’s hearing, R.D. Kadiri, representing the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), informed the court that new details related to the case had just been received. He requested additional time to properly incorporate the fresh information into the prosecution’s filings.
The court granted the request and rescheduled the matter to April 16, 2026.
This marks another delay in the proceedings, as the prosecution had previously sought more time during the last hearing on February 25 to gather further evidence and secure witnesses. The case had initially been referred to the Ogun State DPP by the police for review and legal guidance.
Earlier, on January 20, counsel to the police, Richard Nigiwe, also requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution to duplicate the case file and submit it to the state’s attorney-general through the DPP for legal advice.
With repeated requests from the prosecution, the case continues to face delays as investigations and documentation are being finalised.
