Ogun Police Raid Kidnappers’ Hideout, Rescues Abducted Woman and Recovers Ransom
police officers from the Ogun State Command have successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, after she was abducted earlier this month. The rescue operation not only freed the victim unharmed but also led to the recovery of a significant ransom that had been demanded by the kidnappers.
The terrifying ordeal began on January 16, 2025, when four armed, masked men abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus Jeep outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State. The kidnappers quickly demanded a ransom, sparking an urgent response from the Ogun State anti-kidnapping unit.
With the help of sophisticated technical intelligence from the Force Headquarters, Ogun State police quickly launched a focused investigation and pursuit of the criminals. Their search pointed them toward the creeks around Arepo, which were believed to be the kidnappers’ hideout.
The breakthrough came early this morning, on January 23, at 6:45 AM, when police operatives raided a swampy area in Ikorodu. Upon arrival, the kidnappers opened fire. In the ensuing gun battle, two of the assailants were neutralized, while the others fled, abandoning their weapons.
During the operation, Mrs. Odumosu was rescued safely from the kidnappers’ hideout and is now undergoing a medical check-up. The police also recovered a total of four AK-47 rifles, three locally-made single-barrel rifles, and various ammunition, in addition to the N10,000,000 ransom the kidnappers had demanded.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and successful coordination in bringing the criminals to justice.
