OAU sex-for-marks lecturer to know fate at the court November 19

Richard Akindele, the embattled 57-year old lecturer from Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU will on Monday, November 19, know his fate at the Federal High Court in Osogbo on Monday over allegations that he demanded for sex from a female student before he could upgrade her marks.

The former professor of Accounting and Management at OAU was sacked for gross misconduct after one of his postgraduate students, Ms Monica Osagie exposed his lewd behaviour.

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC had taken Akindele to the court and he faces a three-count charge of abuse of public office, breach of trust and exploitation in his capacity as a lecturer.

The count reveals in part that he committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 8(1)(a)(ii) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
