July 3, 2018
The General Manager of Lagos State Government Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olawale Musa has said no official has a right to arrest any driver for offences where there are no road signs.
Musa added that any driver who feels unjustly arrested for traffic offence should demand to be the taken to court. He urged motorists to contest traffic offence charges and ask for trial by a court of competent jurisdiction.
According to him, LASTMA officials, like other law enforcement agencies, have the power to arrest individuals who are suspected of committing road offences.
“Tell LASTMA official to take you to court when arrested for any traffic offence,” Olawale said in an interview with Rhythm FM.
