“No cause for worries” – NNPC on oil marketers’ strike threat

Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has dismissed the possibility of any impending fuel scarcity following the threat of oil marketers to cut supply if the subsidy debt owed to them was not settled by the government in seven days.

The oil marketers had reached their wits end in trying to amicably secure the outstanding subsidy debt from the Federal Government and had consequently issued a seven-day ultimatum on Sunday to expedite the payment.

They had recently decried the negative effects of the debt on their operations, but when they got no resolution after many efforts, they decided to take extreme measures.

NNPC on the other hand has called the threat a bluff, boasting that the country has enough fuel to last a long time.
