Nigeria's sick flock to 16-year-old girl for healing as Mary the Mother of Jesus "shows up" in Kaduna again

Sixteen-year-old Cynthia is the rave of the moment in Maraban Rido, a place in the southern part of Kaduna State, in Nigeria.

The girl, who hails from the area, has seen the Holy Mother of God, an experience which has reportedly left her with supernatural healing powers.

“We believe her powers are real and we feel we have been healed,” some of the sick people on whom Cynthia laid her anointed hands told our correspondent on Monday.

As we speak, the 16-year-old girl is “healing” hundreds in the southern Kaduna town, and she is doing it for free, her beneficiaries told Newsroom.

They would not even allow reporters speak with her as they said that could diminish her powers and disrupt the healing process.

The girl became the talk of town after reportedly having an encounter with Mary the Mother of Jesus, a figure highly revered among Roman Catholics.

The first sighting reportedly happened on Saturday and was seen by several people.

In that instant, an image of Mary the Virgin Mother seemed to appear atop trees and was captured on video, apparently.

Locals could be heard screaming in disbelief as they gazed on the “apparition” for minutes.

On Monday, Cynthia allegedly told locals she saw Mary again at her home and had a personal encounter this time.

The community now brings its numerous sick, Mary lays hands on them and the people say they are well again.

Virgin Mary appearance or “Marian Apparition” is not a new thing. It has happened in several countries of the world.

Roman Catholic Church leaders, however, maintain the “phenomenon” adds nothing new to the body of beliefs of the Church.

The Church says such “revelation” is meant for a few people or for an individual.

The Church may pronounce an apparition as worthy of belief, or not.

Whatever the Church makes of Cynthia’s Virgin Mary, the “sick” people of Maraban Ribo seem to have made up their minds.
