Nigerians Declare Police Officers Wanted For Armed Robbery And Murder
The EndSARS protests, calling for the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police Force, and an end to police brutality in the country are still ongoing.
Men of the SARS unit of the Police force have been accused of extortion, kidnap, harassment and extra judicial killings. Several police officers have been identified and accused of the unlawful killing of Nigerians.
In spite of announcements made by Mohammed Adamu, Inspector General of Police and President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that SARS has been disbanded, there have been reports of continued harassment by these officials, while protesters across the country are being shot at and killed. Lagos and Ogun states have released a list of cases instituted against officers who have been accused of murders, robbery and manslaughter.
This is a growing list, as new evidence constantly emerges. And although the police force and authorities are yet to communicate clear actions aimed at bringing the suspects to book, citizens are already putting a price on their head.
