Nigerian student builds car from scrap, drives to school
January 25, 2016
Muzzamil Umar from Kebbi State of Nigeria makes engines and cars from scrap materials found around Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
People his age are graduating with First Class grades in Engineering across Nigeria. But most of these graduates can’t build a functioning bicycle.
Umar, 21, is still in SS3, a hurdle he should’ve scaled at 16.
He says he drives his own car, a car he made, to school. We learned some NGOs are at the verge of helping this young Nigerian automaker.
We hope the government tags along.

With Umar, scrap metal is not something to be wasted. Not even this abandoned metal gate should be taken for granted.
