Nigerian soldier rues lover’s decision to marry another man as he fights Boko Haram
A heartbroken Nigerian soldier has lamented losing his lover to another man while fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the North East.
Emmy Benison said on Sunday that his girlfriend of four years finally decided to move on without him by getting married to another man. Benison and his heartthrob, who he simply referred to as Dame, had not seen in two years.
Dame got married without his knowledge, Benison says, though refusing to harbour any resentment towards her.
“We started dating 4 yrs ago and I went away fr 2 years without coming home. She never told me she couldn’t wait anymore,” he said in an Instagram post.
“I was hoping on coming home someday and make her smile again. But I woke up this morning with pictures of her wedding… Dame, I cried o (sic) but I gotta be a man for myself, heartbreak ain’t allowed here.”
For Emmy Benison, it is one the sacrifices of serving his fatherland.
“I have no reason to blame you even though you gave me the surprise of my life,” he said. “You’ve not seen me for two years and you felt I was never coming back. I wish you a happy married life my love.”
Benison is also popular on the social app for his music skill and ambition which he is believed to have also sacrificed for the battlefield.
