Nigerian man convicted of teenage rape, sentenced to 21 years in jail

A 20-year-old Nigerian man, Eniola Balogun has been sentenced to a  total of 21 years’ imprisonment, after being convicted of multiple rapes.

Following his two trials in the United Kingdom, Balogun was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court, after pleading guilty to four counts of rape on four separate teenage girls, aged between 13 and 16. He also pleaded guilty to indecent images of child.

Balogun will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

While living with his family in Tottenham, Balogun persuaded young ladies through online networking platforms or in the street, to send him indecent photos.

Armed with the photographs, he threatened to distribute the images unless they meet with him. According to reports, after meeting the girls, he raped them.

On all occasions, Balogun took their phones from them and promised to return their phones after sexual contact.
