Nigeria: Friends on fundraising drive for kids orphaned by shocking double homicide

Olamide Alli

Friends of a 25-year-old lady, Olatunde Alli, brutally killed by her fiance Chris Ndulue, who then killed himself, are now on a fundraising drive for the two children she left behind – age seven and three.

Alli was found in the pool of her blood in Ndukwe’s residence at Road 5, House 16a, Victory Park Estate, Ilasan, Lekki, in Lagos, on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

The founder of AGS Tribe, Ifedayo Durosinmi-Etti, who described Alli as her “mentee and a member of the AGS Tribe community (a platform that connects women together for opportunities),” launched the Olamide Alli Education Trust Fund campaign to raise money for the kids.

Durosinmi-Etti told Neusroom that the goal set for the trust fund is to raise N20 million for the children of the deceased.

“We started two days ago and as at last night (Thursday) we have raised about N4 million and the response has been encouraging,” she said.

According to a statement by the Lagos Police Command, Ndulue, 39, is believed to have stabbed Alli to death with kitchen knives and thereafter drank a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper insecticide.

Lagos Police spokesperson, Bala Elkana said information gathered from some family members revealed that the couple who were in a ‘complicated relationship’ for over seven years, though not married, have two boys, ages seven and three. The lady lived in Ogba, Lagos while the man lived in Victory Park Estate Ilasan.

Alli’s 22-year-old sister who was present in the house with the two kids was the first to have noticed that the couples were dead and raised an alarm.

She told police that a night before the incident, she, her late sister and her two kids had visited the man on his invitation. She was, however, “woken up by loud music from the room where the corpses were found, as herself and the two kids slept in a different room,” according to her statement to the police.

Durosinmi-Etti in a note on the trust fund page said she has gotten permission from her family to start “a fundraiser in her honor and all proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to set up a Trust Fund for her children (7 and 3 years old). The Trust Fund will be managed by FBN Quest Trustees.”

Alli’s social media accounts revealed she was a life coach, motivational speaker and teenage counsellor. She shared several videos of her motivational talks tagged “30 seconds of clarity” where she regularly advised her social media followers.

Durosinmi-Etti described Alli as “an amazing and hardworking person who attended a lot of my mentorship events…She was a very responsible mom and it’s so unfortunate that her life ended that way.”
