Nigeria: Buhari, who failed Math fantastically, wants students with low CGPA expelled
The 2015 presidential elections were dominated by Muhammadu Buhari’s academic gallantry, or otherwise.
It’s now common knowledge the President failed Mathematics in the 1961 WASSCEE. His name also appeared misspelled in the ancient statement of result.
Buhari had no university education. His predecessor Goodluck Jonathan had a doctorate.
Meanwhile, a Buhari appointee is planning to get rid of university students with cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 0.5 below.
The irony is that these students, unlike their president, had to pass Mathematics before they were offered varsity admission.
“We must stop to continue housing adventurers, who have no business remaining in the universities beyond the time specified for their studies in the universities,” minister of state for education Anthony Onwuka reportedly said on Sunday.
He was speaking on Buhari’s behalf at the 31st convocation of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
“In that wise, it is being proposed that at the end of this academic year, any student with less than 0.5 CGPA should cease to be a student of the university and should be shown the way out.
“The universities must continue to have people who are serious in what they have come to do.
“If you have less than 0.5 in your CGPA, you are out. You are out for good so that the space will be left for those who have come to do serious business,” he said.
