Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala appointed as director on Twitter
Popular Social media platform, Twitter has appointed former Finance Minister of Nigeria, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and former World Bank chief Robert Zoellick as directors in a board reshuffle.
“Ngozi and Bob are distinguished leaders with unparalleled global perspective and policy expertise,” said Omid Kordestani, Executive Chairman of Twitter.
“We are confident they will be incredible assets to Twitter as we continue to focus on driving transparency and making Twitter a safer, healthier place for everyone who uses our service.”
Mrs Okonjo- Iweala served two terms as Finance Minister under the leadership of president Olusegun Obasanjo and president Umaru Musa Yaradu’a respectively.
In reaction to the appointment, she expressed her excitement and assured Twitter of maximising its influence for the good of the global society.
She said, “Twitter is a powerful platform that continues to be used as a strong connector for the global community , and I ’m thrilled to be a part of the team.
