“We Will Win,” Netanyahu Declares as Israel Reflects One Year After Hamas Attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Israel “will win” as the nation reflects on one year since the devastating Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
In his address to troops, Netanyahu declared, “We have completely transformed reality.”
On October 7, 2023, Israel experienced one of the worst unprovoked attacks in 50 years when Hamas, a Palestinian political group designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, launched thousands of airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of nearly a thousand Israelis.
In a matter of hours, Israel initiated coordinated airstrikes in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, a densely populated area of 360 square kilometers that borders Israel to the east and north.
What followed that retaliation was a ground invasion and a full-blown war that destabilized the Middle East.
Since then, multiple fronts have opened in the region, with Israel now embroiled in two wars: one against Hamas in Gaza and another against Hezbollah in Lebanon, along with an increasing direct confrontation with Iran.
However, although the conflict has caused an undue humanitarian disaster, with over 42,000 Palestinians killed and 1.9 million people displaced in Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu remains resolute in his determination to confront his enemies.
“We will defeat our enemies,” he stated firmly, emphasizing the Israeli military’s efforts to confront militants in both territories.
The prime minister’s remarks came as Israeli forces prepared to escalate actions against Iran, which supports Hamas and Hezbollah.
Recall that in late September, Israel killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, which necessitated an airstrike of over 200 missiles by Iran on October 1 against Israel.
