NASARAWA: 2 boys accuse 76-year-old uncle of witchcraft, beat him to death
A 76-year-old man identified as Baba Gaya has been beaten to death by two teenage boys in the Dundu community in Nasarawa State on accusation of witchcraft.
The boys were said to have descended on the septuagenarian, hitting him with sticks and killing him instantly when the sad news of the death of one Mbako Karatu filtered into the village.
The incident happened on February 3, 2018 at about 6pm.
Karatu had died while having her third child through surgery Caesarian Section at Gwantu General Hospital in Kaduna State.
The boys, Sunday Ango and Alaji Ango, said to be nephews to Gaya, accused him of being a witch.
They fled after committing the crime but were arrested 24 hours later.
Reports say it wasn’t the first time youths would kill a person on allegations of witchcraft, as one of such incidents occurred only a few months ago.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, DSP Idrisu Kennedy, said the two suspects had been arrested, adding that they would be arraigned in court after investigations.
