NAF carries out ‘precision strike’ on terrorist hideout in Sambisa
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has carried out a precision strike on a key terrorist base inside the Sambisa forest, destroying the facility and weakening the group’s operations in the region.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NAF spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the air raid took place on November 19 at a location known as ARRA, described as a notorious hideout used by terrorists within the wider Sambisa axis.
According to Ejodame, the attack was conducted on the orders of the Chief of Air Staff as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations under Operation HADIN KAI in the north-east.
He explained that the mission was triggered by intelligence gathered after the October 17 ambush against troops at KASHOMRI.
“Persistent ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) missions over KASHOMRI and the Sambisa area exposed suspicious movements and active structures at ARRA,” the statement said. “This prompted a deliberate, intelligence-led airstrike.”
Ejodame added that NAF aircraft engaged the targets in coordinated waves, leading to the destruction of all identified structures and assets belonging to the terrorists.
The air force noted that the successful strike had disrupted the group’s command chain and logistics, significantly degrading their operational capabilities.
“This operation reflects the NAF’s firm commitment to safeguarding the nation, backing ground troops, and maintaining continuous pressure on terrorist groups in all operational theatres,” the spokesperson stated.
He assured Nigerians that the force remains dedicated to dismantling threats, defending the country’s territory, and ensuring lasting peace.
