‘MTV Shuga came back to Lagos because Nigeria is an awesome place’ – Georgia Arnold, Exec. Dir., MTV Staying Alive Foundation
For the 3rd time since its inception, MTV Shuga, a youth-friendly show that aims to educate teenagers and young adults about safe sex and sexual health in general is returning to Nigeria for its 6th season.
The exciting new season premiered at IMAX Cinema, Lekki, Lagos last Thursday, giving attendees a sneak peek into all the action to expect from the show this season – from suspense to loads of surprises and of course tons of social media-ready moments that are sure to get the internet buzzing.
While speaking to the enthused audience during a Q&A session after the viewing, Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility for MTV Networks International, Georgia Arnold, who seems to have a special place in her heart for everything Nigerian, explained that Nigeria was chosen for a 3rd time because ‘it’s an awesome place’. The entire audience roared in excitement at this point.
Timini Egbuson, who plays the role of Tobi in the show, also commented on all the interesting lessons and drama we should look forward to this season.
The session was followed by an after-party where cast members and attendees had the time of their lives displaying all sorts of Naija dance moves, especially the popular Shaku shaku.
We certainly agree that Nigeria is an awesome place and can’t wait for the first airing of the season on March 6.
