Mother butchers daughter in Russia for being “too argumentative”
A mother has allegedly hacked her daughter to death in Chaykovsky, Russia “for being too argumentative”.
49-year-old Tatiana Degirmendzhy was arrested by the police as she attempted to flee the city after allegedly committing the crime.
She was said to have hacked her 18-year-old daughter, Yulia to death while she slept. Police say the mother hit her daughter several times with the axe, severing the teenager’s carotid artery in her neck.
Yulia was later discovered by her brother Sertan Degirmendzhy, 22, who had returned home from a walk.
Reports said he found her lying motionless on her bed covered in blood and discovered an axe on the floor nearby. He called the emergency services but paramedics said Yulia died from blood loss.
Police said her mother’s passport was missing from the home after a search. Degirmendzhy was, however, found within 24 hours while trying to board a train in the city of Izhevsk, 36 miles away from her home.
Police claim the mother has confessed to her daughter’s murder.
A spokesperson said: “The investigation found that during the last three months, the suspect and the victim had been constantly in domestic conflicts.
“The suspect said she committed the murder on the basis of personal dislike.”
If found guilty of murder, Degirmendzhy faces 15 years in prison.
