Mother, 2 children killed in suicide bombing attack in Maiduguri
Another suicide bombing attack rocked Maidiguri, the Borno state capital on Saturday night.
No fewer than seven persons were killed, while eight others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the attack, the state police confirmed.
The attack, which was carried out by three suicide bombers, claimed the lives of two children and their mother.
The bodies of the victims were evacuated by NEMA, while injured persons were taken to the hospital.
Police say the attack occurred around 9pm.
“At about 2100hrs of 18/3/2917, three suicide bombers, a male and two female, attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri town through Umarari village in Molai general area,” the state command’s Public Relations Officer, Victor Isuku said in a statement.
“They were sighted by Civilian JTF and challenged. They detonated the IEDs strapped to their bodies while running to different directions.
“Four people which include a Civilian JTF, a woman and her two children died while eight others sustained injuries, and have been taken to hospital.”
Maiduguri remains prone to suicide bombing attacks despite the army claiming victory over Boko Haram.
