Mixed reactions trail Osinbajo’s decision to fire DSS boss
Nigerians have reacted to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo’s decision to fire the Director-General of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), Mr. Lawal Musa Daura, Tuesday afternoon.
Osinbajo, who holds forth as Buhari vacations in London, made the bold decision after operatives of the DSS laid siege at the National Assembly earlier in the morning.
There are reports that Daura has also been arrested and detained after a meeting at the Acting President’s office. He has been accused of breaching National Security for invading the National Assembly.
Since the announcement of Daura’s sack, many Nigerians have hailed the decision, praising Osinbajo for displaying “rare” authoritative reaction to national matter.
Many say this is the most responsive the Buhari-administration has been to national crisis since coming to power.
Some have, however, expressed skepticism about the Acting President’s decision.
“I wonder if Osinbajo consulted his boss before he took this action, if he ever did, PMB could have wanted to give Daura a soft landing like he did in the case of Maina, Babachir Lawal & other corrupt elements in his government. I wish this cleansing continues before Buhari is back,” one Twitter user, Fafiolu Sesan, said.

Another user, Akinnike Michael, hailed Osinbajo’s decision, saying: “Prof Osinbajo has done the right thing. We all need to stand by him. One of the great character of a leader is decision. Finally we can breathe fresh air. Our democracy must be protected.”

Scripted or not, the sack of Daura is a welcomed development, I commend Osinbajo for standing with Nigeria, but he has a lot more sacking to do.

Many don’t even know how powerful Lawal Daura is. Aside being the DG of the DSS, He’s one of those powerful politicians Aisha Buhari was talking about to have hijjacked the presidency. He’s one of the few people Buhari fear “ALOT”. It seems Prof. Osinbajo is not afraid of anybody

PMB should take a cue from Osinbajo when he returns. Silence is not always golden, action shows the leader. A deluge of press statements and defensive mechanisms by conscience-less folks are not what build a democracy. Action and Responsibility do.

You are definitely delusional if you think the sacking of the DSS boss was done w/out PMB’s consent,PMB and Osinbajo are a team, you can’t hail one and castigate the other. The synergy I have seen btw them is one I have never seen between a president and his vice In this country

Have said it before and am saying it again the only thing that can give @APCNigeria an upper hand in the coming general elections is to make Acting President Professor Osinbajo their candidate if not sorry for Nigerians are now wise

There are some here that think Osinbajo sacked Daura without Bubu’s say so? Even deputy MD of bank can’t shit if CEO says No.

Buhari might fight Osinbajo over this termination, but this is the right thing to do. Osinbajo needs to sack the IG of Police too?
