A 50-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing his 25-year-old neighbour to death for turning up the volume of his sound system to an unbearable level.
The suspect, Cyril Oko who was disturbed by the loud music had approached the deceased, Peter Nkwuda and told him to turn down the volume of the music, but he refused.
After Peter proved adamant to all attempts to get him to lower the music, a heated argument broke out between the two neighbours who hail from different local government areas of the state.
Cyril Oko is reported to have angrily rushed into his house and brought out a knife that he used to stab Peter on the chest in the presence of other neighbours.
The deceased slumped and despite several efforts to stop him from bleeding, he kept on losing blood.
Peter’s wife quickly took the matter to the police station and operatives were dispatched to the scene.
Police spokesperson, DSP Loveth Odah confirmed the incident and disclosed that the operatives took the victim to Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakiliki where he was confirmed dead.
She said that the suspect has been arrested and will be prosecuted after investigations.
