Man rapes, robs victim he lured via Facebook

An alleged rapist who lured his victim via Facebook has been arrested in Lagos.

Police say Ayo Salau connived with an accomplice, Richard Samuel Gbenga on August 4 to deceitfully invite the lady for dinner.

Salau was said to have fostered a friendship with the lady in July and made an arrangement to meet afterwards.

The suspects arrived at the agreed take off point in a Toyota Camry and on their way to Lekki, they pulled over at a lonely spot. They allegedly threatened the victim with cutlass and ordered her to take off her clothes or be killed. They allegedly took turns to rape her, after which they robbed her of her wristwatch and cash.

The victim reportedly raised alarm and gave description of their car. The police chased after the suspects but were only able to arrest Salau while Gbenga escaped.

The victim has since identified Salau and he has confessed to the crime. He claimed his fleeing partner recruited him for the job.
