Man killed in Plateau reprisal attack not SARS boss’ son
Reports that the son of Haliru Gwandu Abubakar, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Anti-Robbery (SARS), was killed in retaliation for herdsmen killings in Plateau State, are false.
Media outlets quoted Sahara Reporters as saying that a young man, Zayyan Gwandu, was the police boss’s son and was killed for being of Fulani origin.
Zayyan was truly one of the victims of reprisal attacks following the killings in three LGAs of Plateau State by suspected herdsmen, but he’s not the Police Commissioner’s son as erroneously reported.
He was on his way back to Abuja from Bauchi through Jos, and was attacked in his Peugeot 406 car.
CP Abubakar recently addressed the public in a Twitter question and answer session, maintaining that SARS operatives have no right to conduct random stop and search operations on innocent citizens.
