Man arrested for duping “wife” of N6.7million

This is anything but a fairytale love story.

Ani Nkechi, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has accused her husband, Chike Nnaemeka, of duping her of N6.7 million.

Her petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has led to the arrest of Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist.

Nnaemeka allegedly collected the sum under different requests, a statement signed by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren said.

Chike Nnaemeka, also known as Dr. Justified, claimed to be a gynaecologist.

According to Ani, she met Nnaemeka through one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state.

She said he claimed to be an orphan and a lone prince of Ihekpe Kingdom in Ogwuashi-Uku, Delta state.

They got married in a traditional ceremony on June 6, 2015.

‘‘During the wedding preparation, Justified brought up so many stories bordering on cultural issues that I or anyone from my family is not supposed to visit his home town until after my marriage,” Ani wrote in her petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC

“He also said that the tradition of his place as a lone Prince demands that I sponsor every financial aspect of the traditional marriage, but that he would refund me to the last one Naira I spent.”

Nnaemeka’s cover blew when he claimed to have properties that both Zenith Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc were purportedly interested in.

He reportedly showed Ani some documents to the properties, while also requesting her to provide some money to enable him complete the process.

Unsuspectingly, she allegedly transferred some amounts of money to the suspect, after being assured that he would refund her.

But on December 23, 2015, the suspect allegedly left the house on the pretence that he was going to sign the agreement papers with the respective bank to finalise the transaction.

Ani also claimed that the suspect stole the sum of $3000 belonging to her boss.

“Meanwhile, investigation has revealed that the suspect, who is married to another woman who had three children for him, also lied that his mother passed on some years back,” the EFCC’s statement said.

“The suspect will soon be charged to court, after investigation is concluded,” it added..
