Man, 54, granted bail of N10,000 over stolen N100 cashew nuts
Fatai Bello, a 54-year-old man alleged to have stolen two sachets of cashew nuts priced at N100 has on Thursday, November 24, been granted a N10,000 bail at Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Mrs. M.I Dan-Oni, the Chief Magistrate also ruled that the accused should present one surety in like sum, as part of the bail conditions.
Adding that the surety should be gainfully employed and must provide proof of tax payment to the Lagos state government, with a verified address.

During his trial, Bello however pleaded “not guilty” to a charge of stealing.
According to Vanguard, the prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Okoliko, earlier explained to the court that the accused committed the offence at No. 36, Enitan St., Aguda, Surulere in Lagos, at about 11.30 a.m on Nov. 17.
He said the accused was a security man at the supermarket, where he stole the cashew nuts.
The prosecutor said the complainant, Temitope Solomon was alerted by someone who saw Bello stealing the nuts.
“Solomon searched the accused and saw the nuts in his procession.”
When he was asked to explain how he got the nuts, Bello could not give the account of how he got them.
The court adjourned the case till December 8.
