Man, 42, loses temper, ‘kills mum for not cooking preferred meal’
A 67-year-old woman, Mrs Benedeth Ikegwuonu was on Wednesday allegedly murdered by her 42-year-old son, Chinedu.
Reports say she was hacked to death by her son for not preparing his preferred meal.
Vanguard quotes a source as saying Chinedu had requested for noodles, but returned to find that his mother had prepared yam porridge.
“The mother was busy preparing the yam porridge without suspecting anything when the son returned,” the source said.
“Suddenly, pandemonium ensued. But by the time we rushed there, the man had killed his mother inside her kitchen.
“After stabbing the mother in the neck while she was cooking, he abandoned her in a pool of her blood and ran away, leaving behind his wife and son.”
Conflicting reports, however, say Chinedu hacked his mother to death over a land dispute.
Police say the suspect used machete on the deceased by cutting her neck before fleeing with the machete. The deceased was later rushed to Akwudo Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
