25-year-old man, friends allegedly rape sister, 8, till she was 12

Abdullahi Mohammed, 25, has allegedly told Abuja police he had been raping his 12-year-old half-sister since 2011.

Abdullahi met the young teenager after her father married Abdullahi’s mother.

The girl’s father never knew of the recurring act until the teenage girl tested positive for HIV – a test that was carried out after her health deteriorated.

The father had divorced the girl’s mother years ago and married Abdullahi’s mother.

Abdullahi allegedly committed the crime at the father’s house in Abuja’s Jahi district.

“My step brother started raping me when I was eight and each time he raped me, he would threaten to kill me if I told our father,” the girl said.

Abdullahi was 21 when he reportedly started committing the crime on his half-sister who was barely eight. Reports say he also invited his friends to join in the rape which took place for at least four years.

“We were living peacefully until one night when I was lying on the floor and Abdullahi came and started fondling my breasts,” the girl said.

“When he didn’t see breasts, he said he would suck them until they came out. When I objected, he raped me.

“He used a handkerchief to wipe off the blood that was coming out from my private part. He threatened to slash my throat if I told anybody. I didn’t tell anybody and it continued.

“He raped me every night; and sometimes he brought his friends, especially Ahmed along with him to rape me,” the girl said.

The girl’s father had to take her to the doctors after she started falling sick with alarming frequency. Medical tests showed she had AIDS.

Police, however, say the girl may have contacted HIV from birth as Mohammed and one of his friends who raped the girl for four years tested negative for the virus.

They are speculating the girl’s mother had HIV before conceiving her. It is, however, unclear if the father is also carrying the deadly virus.

“Having gotten medical reports, the case would now be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation,” Mabushi divisional police Chief Superintendent Ayobami Surajudeen said.
