Major Political Shakeup as Three PDP Senators from Kebbi Defect to APC
Three senators from Kebbi State have officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors include Senator Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Senator Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South). Their defection letters were read on the Senate floor during Tuesday’s plenary session by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over the day’s proceedings.
The dramatic shift was witnessed by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, underscoring the importance of the move for the party’s future.
Describing the defections as a “major boost” for the APC, Jibrin hailed the development as a sign of growing support for the party’s leadership and ideology.
“This shows there will be a lot of successes and victories for the APC in the future,” Jibrin stated. “It is a testimony, a sign of what is going to happen.”
He added that for the first time, Nigeria has “a progressive president,” noting that the electorate is beginning to embrace the ideals of progressive politics.
“With the grace of God, all future elections will bring victory our way,” he said, while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for what he described as their ongoing efforts to strengthen the party and the nation.
