Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez Banned Over Copa America Brawl

Liverpool of England forward, Darwin Nunez, has been hit with a massive ban following ugly scenes that erupted during Uruguay’s Copa America semi-final match.

The South American Confederation CONMEBOL, on Wednesday, announced the decision to fine the player over his involvement in the fracas.

Recall that violence broke out when Uruguay confronted Colombia in Charlotte in their July 10th, 2024 Copa America semi-final clash.

Uruguayan players clashed with fighting Colombian fans at the tail end of the encounter, with play stopped during that time.

Nunez was one the players to enter the stands and exchange punches with fans.

Other news outlets reported that Nunez engaged in the fight in order to protect members of his family who were in the stands at the time.

For his role, the player has now been slapped with a 5match ban.
