LIRS extends individual tax filing deadline to April 14, 2026
The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a two-week extension for the filing of individual annual tax returns, shifting the deadline from April 1 to April 14, 2026.
In a statement released on Monday, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Dr. Ayodele Subair, explained that the statutory deadline for filing returns remains March 31 each year. He said the extension was granted to give taxpayers additional time to accurately complete and submit their returns.
Subair urged individuals to prioritise timely compliance, stressing that filing annual income tax returns should become a routine responsibility. He emphasized that adherence to tax obligations is essential and should not be delayed unnecessarily.
The LIRS boss also reiterated that all tax filings must now be done electronically through the agency’s eTax platform, noting that manual submissions have been fully discontinued. According to him, the platform is secure, easy to use, and accessible круглосуточно, allowing taxpayers to file their returns at any time.
He further advised taxpayers to ensure their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered during the filing process to avoid errors or delays.
For assistance or further inquiries, taxpayers are encouraged to visit any LIRS office or reach out through the agency’s official communication channels, including its website, social media platforms, email support, and customer care hotline.
The extension provides a final window for individuals who are yet to comply, as the agency continues to push for improved tax compliance across Lagos State.
