Lassa Fever: Nigerian woman fired for speaking out against govt inaction
A woman in Nasarawa state, northern Nigeria, has been fired for daring to criticize the government who, incidentally, is her employer.
Ruqayyat Tijjanni Usman was a State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
Until the 25th of February that is.
That day she got this letter:
Usman said her offence was that she posted the following comment on Facebook following the Lassa Fever related death of Nurse Ibrahim Oshafu.
And this
She said, in a tweet, that she was described as being critical of the government she serves.
They said i am bn critical of the govt i serve..therefore my appointment as a state counsel is hereby terminated

Meanwhile, some friends of the sacked barrister who, they say, have apologised, are pleading with the state government to reverse the termination of her appointment.
At the time of this report, NewsroomNG has reached out to Usman and awaits her response.
