Lamido Declares Boycott of PDP Meetings, Demands Wike’s Expulsion Over ‘Anti-Party’ Conduct

Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has launched a scathing attack on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, vowing to boycott all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meetings until Wike and other “impostors” are expelled from the party.

Lamido, a founding member of the PDP, was noticeably absent from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held Tuesday in Abuja. The NEC is the PDP’s highest decision-making body, comprising top figures including current and former governors, members of the National Assembly, and party elders.

In a fiery press briefing, Lamido accused Wike—himself a former PDP governor—of betraying the party that once elevated him.

“Wike is a disaster,” Lamido said bluntly. “He is a product of the PDP—made by the PDP, nurtured by the PDP—yet today he is its chief saboteur. I cannot sit in the same meeting with impostors. Until the party purges itself, I won’t attend any PDP meeting.”

Lamido did not hold back in his criticism of the FCT Administration’s recent decision to seal off the PDP national secretariat, which he squarely blamed on Wike.

“To seal the PDP secretariat—an institution that gave you life—is un-African, un-Nigerian, and a flagrant abuse of power,” he declared. “Wike lacks the cultural and moral grounding our political tradition demands.”

The former governor also slammed the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) for what he described as its failure to take decisive action against individuals accused of anti-party activities. He specifically questioned why Wike and former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom remain within the party’s leadership structures despite their open defiance.

“Why hasn’t Wike been expelled? Why is Ortom still on the board of trustees after endorsing Tinubu? What exactly is the NWC afraid of?” he asked.

Lamido went on to praise President Bola Tinubu for issuing a 14-day ultimatum for FCT ground rent defaulters, claiming Wike’s move to seal the PDP office was an attempt to curry favour with the president.

“Wike is playing eye service,” Lamido said. “Ironically, the man he’s trying to impress—Tinubu—was the one who called him to order. That tells you everything. Even Tinubu is beginning to see that Wike is unreliable.”

On broader political implications, Lamido warned of the creeping threat of authoritarianism.

“What we are seeing is state-sponsored sabotage. The idea of a one-party state is dangerous and must be resisted,” he stated.

The PDP has been mired in internal divisions since 2022, with key figures openly at odds over the party’s direction, leadership, and allegiances.
