Lai Mohammed, ministers visit Leah Sharibu’s mother, promises to secure her release
Information minister, Lai Mohammed on Saturday led a procession of Federal Government delegates to Borno, Maiduguri to visit Rebecca Sharibu, mother of abducted Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah.
Leah was abducted along with her schoolmates in February, and has been held onto by a Boko Haram faction for her refusal to denounce her Christian faith.
Leah and Rebecca have, at separate times, called on the FG for swift intervention.
Mohammed said the delegation, which included Aisha Abubakar, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, were in Maiduguri to also visit the family of the late midwife who was recently killed by terrorists.
The minister promised that the FG would secure the release of two other aid workers still being held in captivity, as well as Leah.
The terrorists are reportedly demanding unspecified ransom from the government before the women can be released.
