Lagos state unleashes neighbourhood “police” to combat crime

Lagos state government has launched a new security initiative to further ensure the safety of its residents.
The Neighbourhood Safety Corps has been launched to ensure over every nooks and crannies in the state are safe.
During the inauguration of the “neighbourhood police” on Monday, the state government revealed it has provided 117 vehicles, 377 motorcycles, 4,000 bicycles and other essential equipment for the men and women in blue uniform to ease their tasks.
Governor Ambode also revealed that the bill to regulate the domestic workers and security guards was underway.
It is not yet clear if members will be armed.
The state hopes to combat an increasing crime rate in neighbourhoods with the new initiative.
