Lagos governorship primary election holds on Independence Day, state lawmakers back Sanwo-Olu

The governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos will no longer hold on Sunday, September 30, the party’s Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has said.
Oshiomhole said on Saturday in Abuja that the primaries have been moved to Independence Day, October 1.
The same date applies to the governorship primary election in Imo State.
Earlier, in Lagos, one of three aspirants Obafemi Hamzat announced that he was pulling out of the race and backing Jide Sanwo-Olu for the ticket instead.
There are also reports that 36 out of 40 Lagos house of assembly members have endorsed Sanwo-Olu for the ticket.
