Lady arraigned in court for stabbing brother-in-law with broken bottle
A lady identified as Chioma Iwu has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing her brother-in-law with a broken bottle.
The police prosecutor told the court that Chioma, 33, committed the crime on July 27, at the victim’s home in Lekki Gardens, phase IV in Ajah, Lagos.
The victim, Nwobike Godwin, according to NAN, had a misunderstanding with his wife before going to Chioma’s house to ask for some belongings, which led to a disagreement.
Chioma allegedly entered her room and emerged with a broken bottle which she used to stab Godwin’s left hand. She faces an assault charge.
The prosecutor told the court that she breached Section 246 (a) of the Criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015 which is punishable by law.
Chioma, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted a bail of N100,000 by Chief Magistrate Peter Ojo.
Ojo added that she must provide two sureties who are gainfully employed as well as an evidence of tax payment.
He adjourned the case until December 19 for further hearing.
