Lack of funds responsible for why Nigerians in diaspora are not registered- NIMC
October 26, 2017
The National Identity Management Commission has decried the lack of funding that has made it difficult for the organization to register Nigerians abroad as it should.
NIMC is mandated by law to register all Nigerian citizens both home and abroad. Locally, a small percentage of Nigerians have been registered but it is not the same abroad. The little funding has made training of staff as well as procurement of equipment impossible for the parastatal.
The total number of Nigerians registered by NIMC currently stands at 23 million.
