Kwara: Gunmen shoot man for refusing to sell cigarette
Some suspected cultists reportedly shot a cigarette seller in the head for allegedly refusing to sell cigarettes to them in Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday evening.
The men, said to be five in number, were said to have entered the man’s shop to buy cigarette.
Reports say the gang members were enraged when the trader told them that he had no cigarette, even when one of them pointed to a cigarette pack in the shop.
The deceased reportedly told the suspected cultists that the remaining cigarette pack had been paid for by someone and that he could not accept money for it again.
The suspects were said to have been enraged when the trader told them that the buyer was on his way to collect it.
One of the suspects reportedly shot the cigarette seller on the head, and then entered the shop and took the pack of cigarette.
Kwara State Police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the killing of the cigarette seller.
He said, “I learnt that there was a killing in Gaa Akanbi area yesterday night, but we are still investigating the incident.”
