Kogi: Doctor dies after contracting Lassa fever from patient
Idowu Ahmed, a medical doctor who contracted Lasa fever while treating a seven-month-old victim, has reportedly died from the disease. His patient had died earlier.
The late doctor was reported dead in Irua Edo State, where he was treated.
Until his death, Dr Victor was a House Officer at the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja.
The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr Godwin Tijani described the deceased as a man who was committed to his job.
A statement from Dr Tijani announcing the obituary of the late Medical Doctor wrote “the NMA Kogi State is sorry to announce the death of Dr Idowu Ahmed Victor who was a House officer at FMC Lokoja. He was infected with the Lassa Virus as confirmed at Irrua Specialist Hospital. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen”.
