Katsina: NYSC members allegedly stabbed for “staying together as couple”
Some National Youth Service Corps members have allegedly been attacked and injured by residents of Katsina state.
A Corps member, identified as Ikenna, alleged that a male and a female “corper” were brutally attacked by the locals because they stayed in the same apartment despite being unmarried.
The unnamed male “corper” reportedly suffered deep gash on his head, while one of the female’s fingers was totally severed.
Ikenna said the locals say it is “an offence in their place for an unmarried man to stay together with a woman.”
He said they are labelled by the locals as “Arunne (unbeliever).”
He said the agent of the house the Corps members stayed had been arrested.
“The agent has been remanded in police custody while the landlord is expected to report to the station as per his status in the town.
“So the affected victims have been given stay in an hotel and d D.P.O has ordered the Z.I to let them redeploy back to their various states.
“But the Z.I is somehow saying that he will provide them with security here that they should continue their service here.”
