How Kano Pillars player died in car accident after ‘Man of the Match’ display
Malikawa Garu, a media officer of Kano Pillars, has confirmed the death of Chinedu Udoji, the club’s utility player who died in an auto crash.
According to Garu, the accident occurred along Club road by Independent way in the Kano metropolis.
Garu said, “Udoji’s car hit the concrete median separator on the metropolitan highway by the round about of club road /independent way”.
Udoji was Man of the Match in Sunday’s NPFL Week 9 match against his former club Enyimba, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
An official said Udoji was heading back to the Pillars’ club house after he visited his former Enyimba team mates in a hotel, when he was involved in an accident which cost his life.
His death was, however, disclosed by his former club, Enyimba on its twitter page.
“We are distraught at the news of the passing of club legend and former captain, Chinedu Udoji. Our commiserations are with his family at this time”, the club’s statement reads.
