JUST IN: Saraki officially declares presidential ambition
Senate President Bukola Saraki has officially declared that he is interested in contesting for the presidential seat in 2019.
Saraki made his position known on Thursday during his meeting with the Not-Too-Young-Run Movement.
“I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for president. Accordingly, I hereby announce my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming general elections in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he said.
“I do so with the firm conviction that I have what it takes to secure inclusive growth for Nigeria and Nigerians.”
The former Kwara State governor will contest the PDP presidential ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as well as Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Sule Lamido, both former Governors of Kano and Jigawa States respectively.
