Journalist, 12-year-old son choke to death in Lagos fire incident

A journalist identified as Akinwunmi Dickson lost his life in a fire that razed a shopping complex on Awolowo Way, Ikeja on Sunday.

Dickson’s 12-year-old son, Nelson, was also killed in the unfortunate incident.

The incident, according to witnesses, occurred in the early hours of the day, when Dickson and his son were sleeping in an office in the complex.

Both father and son were said to have choked to death by the smoke of the fire which was reportedly caused by a boutique’s faulty air conditioner.

A witness said no one knew Dickson was in the office at the time of the incident, as they were busy trying to put out the fire in the affected office.
