Jalingo IDP camp suffers food shortage

A camp for internally displaced persons in the Taraba state capital, Jalingo has run out of food. The people living there have been crying out for help with no additional supply in sight.

The IDP camp which is located at Negatavah Government Primary and Secondary School in capital city is reported to have not received any supplies in a while.

As the situation gets dire, some inhabitants of the camp have started going out into the community to beg for food from house to house.

Although the Permanent Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Nulvaga Danhabu, said that he had directed that food should be dispatched to the camp once he received a distress call from there, the food is still long in coming.

The IDPs have disclosed that when they arrived at the camp about a year ago, they were getting 3 square meals per day until it was reduced to two, then one and now, nothing!

They pleaded with the government and well-meaning individuals to come to their aid before things go out of hand.
