“It is illegal to go out with pepper spray”- Police
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yomi Shogunle has said it is a criminal offence for any Nigerian to be found in possession of pepper spray.
ASP Shogunle was responding to a tweet of a lady who said she was arrested by the police for having one in her possession.
The Police boss expressly said being in possession of a pepper spray is considered as much of a criminal offence as being in possession of a gun or knife.

Pepper spray is used by many as a personal protective equipment, mostly against small thefts and crimes. Women also carry them around to protect themselves against rapists.
